Listen to God’s Instruction and Heed to the Wisdom

Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.
They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.
— Proverbs 1:10-16

God’s word is full of wisdom and instruction for our lives.

In our series on Proverbs, we have been talking about getting the information in our head to move and make transformation in our hearts. This wisdom that God has given us is not meant to be kept in our heads as good info, it is meant to travel from our heads to our hearts producing transformation of our lives. In Proverbs, God is crying out for people to listen and heed to the wisdom found in this book.

We give things influence in our lives.

One of the primary things that has major influence in our lives is people. We let people speak into our lives in all sorts of ways. We watch TV shows that are packed with messages and information that we allow to influence us in ways we often do not even realize.

Are we going to let Oprah’s philosophy influence us more than God’s wisdom? You can put any person's name in for Oprah, especially with the dominance of social media in our lives. Posts, videos, and ramblings from anyone in your newsfeed has the power to influence us and the question you must ask yourself is…

"Has ______ influenced me more than God?"

Let God, through His Word, be the biggest influence in your life.
